'People are fearful' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

The proof is undeniable why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to win the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but lost 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race in the prior campaign.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), attempts against (72), shots on target faced (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the finest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but rival sides still struggle to contain the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is especially notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in impressive fashion, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have labeled Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with conviction and purpose.
